All the jobs I've ever had
+ the first promising Ozempic doc, hope for Vogue, another Sweetgreen Instagram miss.
Good morning.
This letter includes:
Barstool’s Stanford Prison Experiment
A Sweetgreen social media snafu
My conversation with Toby Shorin
At the bottom of this letter, I include all of the jobs I’ve ever had.
NEWS:
I spoke to about Corporate Fetish and some other news stories. I didn’t know there would be video recording so I look pretty wired. Which I was!
I also spoke to about my internet habits. I didn’t choose that pull quote.
Samantha Leach called me to talk about Palm Heights’ Gabriella Khalil.
Rx Bar founder Peter Rahal launched a new protein bar called David. Since I saw this launch yesterday, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this bar. It’s inspired by Michelangelo’s David, specifically the ideas of discipline and intelligence. This is not the sugary Rx Bar of Rahal’s past — David’s mission is to help customers be strong and not overfat (I’ve never heard this word!!). “We use the latest food technology to create high-protein, low-calorie, blood-sugar-friendly foods that are craveable, using only ingredients that are either actively great for you or do no harm.” David is a response to Ozempic culture, if not Ozempic. Rahal’s Twitter announcement describes the product as “perfect” and he’s clearly leaning heavily into aesthetics. It would have been jarring in 2020, but feels like the correct market fit for 2024.
