Giving out NARCAN can end your business
Lower East Side residents are trying to close Bluestockings bookstore because they give out Narcan.
Good morning. I got some funny texts from friends after they listened to my episode of TASTE that came out yesterday. This morning, Grub Street’s 20 most-read stories of 2023 list came out — my story about Shoppy Shops was #3, but last year my story about martinis was #2. I have some work to do in 2024. Someone sent me this Coveteur story from a few weeks ago where writer Ama Kwarteng said Feed Me keeps her finger on “the cultural pulse of this country.” I also got a Google name alert that this woman I don’t know (hello, Tara) wrote this Medium post about me going to The Opera in a tabloid-coded voice.
SOME NEWS!
Jenna Lyons’ eyelash business doubles as a style recommendation site. Lyons became a cast member of the 14th season of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” and the show’s premiere episode had 1.7 million total viewers across platforms, resulting in an abundance of LoveSeen orders. “We saw growth of about 400% — but we also ran out of inventory, so we couldn’t even match all the sales interest,” said Lyons. The “Jenna’s Into It” edit on the site allows Lyons to make more money from affiliate, from products that having nothing to do with her lashes but everything to do with her. It includes homeware, cosmetics, and candles that she uses. Lyons has recently started linking to these shoppable products on Instagram, where she now has over 700,000 followers. Now, along with LoveSeen, Lyons was hired by an ex-Blackstone exec with several undisclosed projects in the works.
