I do not envy Alex Cooper today.
Last night, headlines came out about Alix Earle, the star on her Unwell Network talent roster, being “dropped” from the network. Several group texts started discussing theories about what actually happened (Earle quit, Unwell is toast, Cooper and Portnoy are trading employees like baseball cards).
I’ve been writing about Cooper and Unwell since the beginning of Feed Me because it’s an incredible story about creators and media – Barstool host breakups up with her co-host → breaks up with Portnoy → signs a three-year deal with Spotify worth over $60mm → creates her own network → secured a $125mm three-year deal with SiriusXM → hosts the summer Olympics → launches CPG brand → brings on more shows and announced a spring break party in Florida → and then her star podcast host, Alix Earle, leaves the network.
