Shopify has been investing in businesses for a while, but this week they officially announced Shopify Ventures. Their portfolio is obviously impressive, including brands like Stripe, Affirm, and Flexport. I really like the ascii art on the site. Yesterday they also announced a network for creators, and shipped Shopify Marketing Tools. Good time to be at Shopify.
Glossier has relaunched the editorial site that birthed them, Into the Gloss. In 2014, the team behind Into the Gloss (Emily Weiss + some early team members) launched Glossier, and the rest was history. ITG used to be my beauty bible — I’d refresh the page multiple times a day to read about celebrity wellness routines and can’t-live-without beauty items. The site quietly wound down over the last few years, I’m guessing partially because of resources and priorities, and also because you can basically get all this content constantly on TikTok. Daise Bedolla, who used to write “Why is your skin so good?” at The Cut, is working on leading the interviews. Excited to see how this evolves.
