Look at this beautiful little cat I met last night at dinner.
NEWS:
Kim Kardashian’s Skky Partners made their first deal. The consumer-focused firm has acquired a significant minority stake in TRUFF hot sauce. Financial details weren’t disclosed. We were all waiting to see what her first deal would be! I really like Truff’s packaging. It’s kind of obnoxious and over the top (a bottle of the hot sauce is around $18), but it stands out and makes for a really luxurious usage/gifting experience. Truff’s sales have expanded to include Whole Foods, Target, and many Shoppy Shops. In 2020 they did $25mm in sales so you can only imagine where they’re at today… cool.
Susan Alexandra has seen an uptick in sales of her jewelry and other Judaica since the start of the war. If you haven’t seen her menorahs, they’re out of this world. Stephanie Gottlieb, a jewelry designer in New York, said sales of her Star of David necklaces have also spiked recently. She said she made the pieces, which were introduced this year, as a response to antisemitism.
Carbone used an empty West Village storefront as a billboard and it confused people. And I understand why they were confused! I walked by Charlie Bird in the West Village the other day, and the street side of their outdoor dining sheds were covered with a billboard for a liquor brand. It seemed Carbone might be opening a store at 576 Hudson Street. The West Village storefront has been papered in advertisements for “Carbone at-home,” referring to the celebrity-studded West Village restaurant from Major Food Group, with photos of its jarred pasta sauces. A spokesperson for the restaurant group, however, says “that it is simply a billboard, not a store.” It’s getting confusing out here!
