Alison Roman at US Open, Emma Chozick’s video, and today’s newsletter — would lovee to learn more about JCrew’s influencer strategy and their metrics for brand building
Emily, remember when I said I bumped into someone at an event who knew you from the fragrance department at FIT. That event was one of Erika’s events a few weeks ago. Excited to see your name on the panel. I believe we’ve come full circle and I’ll see you in two weeks
Not responsive to today's newsletter, but you are my Industry go-to.
When the rolling orgy takes a pause, it's intriguing to hear the words the writers use to make the characters sound "posh" or not.
Eric misuses "conflate." I can't tell if that's a real script error or a clever dig at him.
One trader calls a situation "atavistic," when he really means primal and then another trader says, "yeah, primal" In case viewers don't know the obscure "atavistic" which should be reserved for ancestral.
Finally, Yasmin calls London a "conurbation," a word I've neither heard nor read in decades.
I did the prop styling for Vogue’s online article “Why I’ll never stop reading catalogues” last October, and it was one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever done. Catalogues create such an emotional, nostalgic connection to the customer. The writer, Leah Bhabha, discusses how catalogues are uniquely American (which I didn’t know), and that there is still actually value in producing catalogues. For the job, I actually bought old American Girl, Sears, and LL Bean catalogs from the 90s... the J Crew ones were impossible to find because they are now collectors items, especially the Dawsons Creek one. It was available on eBay for $800 when I was prepping the job 😉
