Good morning ;)
The New York Times said that New York is turning into LA and everyone got very MAD. True fighting words. Their case was as follows:
“They’re eating earlier, dressing sloppier and doing ketamine.” Babe, my friends have been doing this since I was a freshman at FIT in 2012.
“The mayor parties at a Kardashian hangout, and there’s an organic mattress store on Fifth Avenue.” I’m not platforming E**c A*ams on my newsletter, so no comment.
“New York’s first legal recreational pot store opened last month, bringing a staple of Los Angeles living to Lower Broadway.” LA’s costume is Denver’s culture.
“Netflix bought the Paris Theater.” ……4 years ago
I could argue that the opening of Hollywood’s new Horses and crumbling entertainment industry is the New York-ification of LA…. but I won’t. I’m not going to finish the list, you get the gist. I’d argue that this is more about the globalization of culture than one coast influencing another. You guys know my POV on LA: haunted, unempathetic, lazy.
And New York? Pragmatic, perfect, hardening, and life-affirming.
