Last night as it rained in New York, I sat at the bar of Raf’s and ate anchovies and salty butter with the restaurant’s owner, Jennifer Vitagliano. She also runs Musket Room and the new restaurant at The Twenty Two, Cafe Zaffri. Her spots have everything I want in a restaurant, down to the wallpaper and the basil to tuna crudo ratio.
As we twirled bottarga spaghetti and I watched her sip on a tiny martini (they serve half martinis, cool), groups of her friends, some of whom were my friends, sat down at different tables around the room.
sat at the bar and said he reads Feed Me. Emmett Shine told me about a new brand he’s working on.After dinner, I stood under the awning outside listening to the rain and waited for my Uber. I started a conversation with an on-duty cop, also standing under the awning. We realized we went to kindergarten together on Long Island. Small world.
I know there are a few thousand college students who read Feed Me. While researching for the letter over the past few weeks, I came upon some exciting internships that I’d be applying to if I was in college and didn’t have a summer game plan lined up yet.

This is my tiniest and most important piece of gossip today: Casa Cipriani added a new cookie to their Italian cookie plate. Whenever one orders a coffee or tea at the members’ club, it comes with a tiny plate of two biscotti and two almond paste cookies. I noticed yesterday that they now have two chocolate chunk cookies in addition to those two. Glad everyone is having fun in the kitchen. I gave up sugar for lent, but I wrapped one up in a napkin and brought it home to my fiance. He approved.
