Series E for a company reinventing dairy 🥛
Not sure how an $840mm raise for a food tech company could end well.
Good morning. I loved reading all of your responses to the merch letter yesterday.
NEWS:
Employment rate drops FAST in East Hampton. The iconic Palm steakhouse in East Hampton said it will lay off most of its staff on January 2nd, which left three dozed stunned workers in tears. Here’s what you need to know about The Palm in East Hampton:
I had my celebration drinks there after my movie premiered at The Hamptons Film Festival. Very bad margarita.
They have been due for a renovation for years — the restaurant, which has been operating at the landmark Huntting Inn since 1980, plans an extensive $5mm renovation that will shutter the steakhouse until March 15.
At the New Year’s Day meeting, staff were advised to seek unemployment insurance and informed that staff who return would be eligible for a $500 bonus.
I think Hillstone or Major Food Group should’ve stepped in here and taken over :/
Diana Ross is the new face of Saint Laurent.
More Bravo producer drama, this time about Below Deck. They need to get their shit together over there. Below Deck was always a weird one… they’re The Help, they’re stuck on a boat, the captain is always a monster, and on top of that they have to be entertaining.
Some news from Glossier:
They’re launching an eye cream. And the marketing team knows that Reddit saw it first. Last week, a member of the Glossier Subreddit spotted a Glossier eye cream at Sephora. Instantly, the account was accused of being a Glossier employee that planted the product launch on the Subreddit page, but the account confirmed they were only a high school student, and therefore too young to even be on the PR list. Glossier’s launch post for Full Orbit eye cream (a very r.e.m. Beauty name if you ask me) reads, “While you might not have seen it here first, let us be the first to confirm: the rumors are true, we’re launching an eye cream! 👀” The eye cream market was valued at $4.77B in the year 2022 and it is expected to reach USD $7.65B in 2030. A combination of selfies, marketing, and under-eye devices like patches and rollers all contribute to this.
They’re opening a store in Vegas. Timing is “Spring 2024” according to job postings for the retail store. If anyone here works at Glossier I promise, PROMISE, I could put together one of the sickest poker games in that town.
Their followers are really unhappy with their product development team.
It also looks like they’re trying to get some serious muscle on their social team. They’re hiring a content strategist to “become the go-to person for anything content creation related at Glossier.”
