Good morning everyone. Feed Me was in the Times yesterday in a story about “Betches”. The women’s media company, which started as a raunchy college blog, is a rare financial success story — and on the White House’s radar. Thank you Sapna for calling me for a quote!
Another gorgeous New York morning. Reminder that if paid readers have any questions for Eliana Gil Rodriguez, to leave those in the Feed Me chat today.
NEWS:
I spent the last three months reporting on this story about members’ clubs for GQ. Probably took six months off my life, but working with GQ’s team was a dream, and possibly one of my favorite magazine stories I’ve worked on. It covers everything from old school blue blood clubs, to ones that opened just weeks ago.
New York gallerists are cutting back on Saturday openings to prioritize poker games. This month, the LA Times wrote that, “The storied L.A. poker scene—an obsession Tinseltown has self-mythologized since the Wild West—these days belongs to the emergent DIY art world.” But in yesterday’s edition of Wet Paint (the art world’s favorite gossip column), Annie Armstrong wrote that New York is building its own underground poker scene. “Gallerists and collectors are both risk-takers when it comes to finances, which is cohesive to the game of poker.” collector Jason Roussos said “And artists really enjoy it because it’s a game that allows you to be creative, while taking risks.” Poker is going to be really, really big this summer. Mark my words!!!
You guys should stop being mean to the guy who uses Notion to manage his personal life. I’ll say it – if a plan isn’t on my Google Calendar, I’m not showing up! I don’t think I’d sleep with someone who made tech apps to run their life, but if it’s happening behind the scenes, who am I to judge?
Searches for “vintage white dresses” on The Real Real were up 54% last month. The second hand bridal market is booming. Galia Lahav is launching resale options, and Happy Isles (my personal bridal porn) focuses on vintage dresses.
