Good morning everyone. Hope you all had a nice weekend.

I went to the afternoon Vampire Weekend show at MSG yesterday, and I was astounded by how many people had their phone away the whole time. It was really cool.

On Saturday, I saw Jesse Eisenberg’s new film ‘A Real Pain’ at New York Film Festival.

A lot of you have asked me to write about Glossier’s two new fragrances, but I think they’ve been covered enough. Yesterday, I got on the C train and the whole thing smelled like Glossier. My take: Doux is the best fragrance the brand has developed.

Semafor wrote about Substack last night, and gave Feed Me (and

Search Engine
and
Throwing Fits
) a nice shoutout.

Enough about me, let’s talk about Kamala Harris.

It takes about 40 minutes for me to get from my front door to the island of Manhattan.

That is, if I’m taking public transportation. I can get through a few emails or a good portion of an album in that time, and I can also line and gloss my lips, but not much else more.

40 minutes is also the amount of time Alex Cooper and Kamala Harris had together for the most recent episode of Call Her Daddy. Usually, Cooper interviews her guests for longer, and then cuts the conversation down to about an hour.

“What I love about what you do is that your voice and your show is about your listeners,” Harris told Cooper in the first few minutes of their conversation. “This is a moment in the country when people want to know that they’re seen and heard.”

If you’re new to Alex Cooper and her podcast Call Her Daddy here’s what you need to know: she launched the show (which at the time was about being a young woman and blowjobs and New York nightlife) in 2018 while working at Barstool, in Cooper made headlines when she signed a $60mm deal with Spotify to bring "Call Her Daddy" exclusively to their platform (by this time it had grown up to bring on bigger guests and more developed topics), and this year she signed a $125mm deal with Sirius XM which is set to replace Spotify as her distribution and advertising partner. She’s 30-years-old and one of the most successful podcasters in the world. Whether you like this fact or not, it matters in the world of media.

Cooper’s signature outfit for her show is sweats. And although Harris didn’t wear a Madhappy set, she did wear what I thought was a tracksuit situation. I checked

Jess Graves
’s Substack Chat to see if I could get an ID on the fit, and the best I could get was that it’s probably the same set that she wore with President Macron in 2021. Someone in
laura reilly
’s Substack Chat said, “I *think* it’s a suit suit. She’s worn it before! Not sure where to buy new but I know Calvin Klein and Michael Kors used to make a lot of this type of suiting you could probably find on eBay etc.” Versatile.

It didn’t surprise me that Harris went on Call Her Daddy. If it surprises you, perhaps you didn’t see Donald Trump’s livestream with “Adin Ross”:

Or Barack Obama on Between Two Ferns while pitching Obamacare to young people:

Or Tim Walz on friend of the letter

Kareem Rahma
’s show, Subway Takes:

I had three main takeaways after watching Harris and Cooper’s conversation:
