"Thirty-year-old men had a certain magic."
+ Blank Street news, New York Times ad team wins, and more.
Good morning, I just went for a run because I’m trying to get shredded over here.
TODAY’S NEWS:
MEDIA
Popsugar relaunched as PS yesterday, and will be much more focused on health and wellness. Nancy Einhart, who has spent 14 years at the brand (!!!) published an editor’s letter yesterday that outlined the vision for the Vox-owned brand. “If you start a sentence with “Maybe this is TMI,” I will urge you to keep talking. Because I want to hear the real stuff: why you got divorced, how you got sober, why you aren’t speaking to your sister, and the weird things that happened when you gave birth.” The content focus sounds like that top 10% of stuff that goes viral on The Cut – how much I spent on plastic surgery, my life coach scammed me, etc. Curious to see what kind of writers they get over here.
- , former GQ editor, launched a Substack about health, wellness, and learning to feel good. The landscape for quality men’s health and wellness news is pretty sparse. GQ is decent, the How Long Gone guys do a pretty good job, and I take what Joe Holder says as gospel. But I don’t think there’s necessarily a standout cool voice online for this kind of stuff (I’m not talking about TikTok grindset guys and Joe Rogan). His first letter is about the best massage spots in New York, and I think I’m going to have a chat with him for Feed Me so if you have any questions for him, drop ‘em below.
The New York Times’ cooking section is bringing in some serious cash for the paper. They announced a new integration from Instacart this week – “it’s part of the team’s expanded strategy to make New York Times Cooking’s recipes easier to make, including efforts such as increasing video content, an improved mobile app, and now easy ingredient shopping.” Cha chiiiiing.
