I’m actually have a pretty good morning today which hasn’t happened in a while. I often lie when i say good morning. I hope your Fridays are going well so far.
You know why? I brushed my hair and went for a walk and listened to this and this and this. I’ve also been drinking tart cherry juice before bed in these massive spritz potions I make and apparently it makes you sleep better. I don’t care if it’s a placebo effect, I love placebos and I love sugar so it’s a win-win for me.

Benny Safdie is going solo. He told Variety that he and his brother/collaborator Josh Safdie have split and will instead focus on solo endeavors for the foreseeable future. The two made a lot together including Uncut Gems and Good Time. While recent rumors suggest the pair had a falling out, Safdie insists his split with Josh is amicable. “It’s a natural progression of what we each want to explore,” he says. “I will direct on my own, and I will explore things that I want to explore. I want that freedom right now in my life.” When I read about this, I imagined working with my sister in a partnership — every time I try to conceive a potential world in which this happened (she works in news, I work in… news) I hit a wall. It’s a bummer but it was really cool to watch such a fruitful sibling relationship in Hollywood.

Substack writer Eric Newcomer says his revenue surpassed $1mm in 2023. Okay baller. He joins a growing list of journalists that have been able to build up an independent media business through a newsletter platform — like yours TRULY. He also just made his first hire, former Business Insider startup reporter Madeline Renbarger. The "Newcomer" newsletter has more than 75k free subscribers and more than 2k paid subscribers, he said.
